Dhangadhi is in Western Tarai. Dhangadhi city is one of the western gates of Nepal. It is situated in the Far-Western Development Region on the border of Uttar Pradesh state, India. Dhangadhi with the population 104,047 people (2011 Nepal census) is the 9th biggest city of Nepal. It is a capital of Kailali District, which comes under the province of Seti. Dhangadhi is the main hub for the Far-Western Region.

The little-used border crossing from Dhangadhi to Gauriphanta, Uttar Pradesh, is useful for moving on to Lucknow, New Delhi or Dudhwa National Park. The Gauriphanta railway station is permanently closed. Ongoing travel is via the bus terminal.

Tharu Homestay and Resort, Dhangadhi

First stop was the Tharu Homestay and Resort, a 10-minute motorbike or scooti ride south from Dhangadhi’s center, the main road. The Homestay opened just a few months ago, and we were friendly welcomed and invited inside by the owner, – NAME-. It lies beautifully embedded in rice and vegetable fields that go as far as one can see – up to the Indian border. Several comfortable rooms with double beds and attached bathrooms invite guests for a relaxing weekend within the beautiful nature of Nepal’s Terai, delicious Nepali and Tharu food and other cultural activities.

Jokhar Tal (Jokhar Lake), Dhangadhi

Located on the eastern outskirts of Dhangadi, Jokhar is a wetland, often frequented by people seeking relaxation, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It has diverse species of flora and fauna even in such a close proximity of the urban sprawl. You can enjoy boating here or trek around the adjoining jungle, famous for its nursery with traditional Ayurvedic herbs.

Dhangadhi’s jokhar taal is a very romantic place of Nepal, this place is located on nearest of dhangadhi town. three kilometers far from Dhangadhi near the site of the road we find Jokhar Taal, this taal is located in the forest. we find three sites of the forest of this Jokhar lake. east site one temple located, this Temple is small but mystic fulfills we can find. Mohana Bird Watch, Dhangadhi

Approximately 1.7 km west of Dhangadhi city, lies the Mohana River Corridor, a habitat of 111 species of birds.

Following a wooden sign just off the Main Road, the two-kilometer ride is already reviving. We passed a beautiful living area where houses mix with animal sheds and rice fields in between or to the back when soon the houses get less and the fields widen and change their color from meter to meter. The path ends at a calm river, where you immediately feel the air getting cooler and fresher from the forest around it.

Aircrafts Museum

Commercial pilot and former member of the Nepalese Army, Bed Upreti, created Nepal’s Aircrafts Museum to bring tourism and awareness to Nepal’s remote far west region, and within its first years of operation, the destination has succeeded in making a mark on all who have made a pilgrimage to the area to visit the charming temple to aviation.

Good place for airplane enthusiasts, students, and tourists. It is a museum made inside a plane. It has small miniature planes, cultural dresses of far western Nepal, pictures of beautiful tourist attractions of Nepal and abroad all taken by its founder Bed Upreti. We can watch the documentary inside it about why this museum is made and its details. One has looked at the cockpit, rent costumes of the pilot and air hostesses to take pictures. It also has a cafe inside the plane and outside its area.

Shopping At Dhangadhi

Remarkable handicrafts items of brilliant workmanship are made in Nepal. Many of these handicrafts also carry religious significance. Artistic works of stone and metal, silver and gold trinkets, and exquisite wood carvings are in great demand.

Shopping in Nepal is not a very common thought. But it couldn’t be more wrong. Nepal is a great destination for shopping too. There are many things that can be exclusively found in Nepal. Nepal has a rich history and culture which gives birth to a variety of craftsmanship.
